Former TUC boss and candidate standing against Hazel Blears, Alec McFadden, has proposed a union for unemployed people in Salford.
The official unemployed figures released today show that 2.44 million people are now unemployed in Britain. This is the highest number in over 15 years.

The Salford Unemployed Community Resource Centre (UCRC) has decided to set up an Unemployed Workers Movement in Salford, with the launch meeting being held on Thursday 20th Augu...

Creativity group at the Energise Centre Charlestown

This small group meets to explore a range of creative topics. Topics
have included creative writing, drawing and painting, poetry reading
and film appreciation. The groups are often facilitated by an arts
worker.  The group meets every Monday at the energise healthy living centre from 10.00am to 1.00pm

SUCCESSFUL TRANSITIONS IN LOWER KERSAL: Groundwork are due to start their fifth Successful transitions course to be run in the NDC area on Thursday 14th of May. The course is for out of work adults and helps them gain confidence and motivation and access positive activities including further learning, volunteering and jobs!!!

The course runs for 12 weeks on Thursday and Friday mornings from 9.30-12.30. It will be running at the Lower Kersal Centre on Northallerton Road and there will be an on-site crèche, refreshments and travel expenses provided. Anyone completing the course will receive a £50 payment in High Street Vouchers and a guaranteed interview for a paid work placement in the work area of their choice!!

Tiny Tots (Nazarene. A playgroup for about twenty 2/3 year olds, supported by volunteers and run by qualified staff. A wide range of structured and free play opportunities on offer. Open Tuesday to Fiday from 9:30 - 12:00 at the Church of the Nazarene on Great Clowes Street. The cost per child is undetermined.
