Lower Kersal Primary School wins Eco Award

Lower Kersal Primary School wins Eco Award

PICT1204.JPG

Lower Kersal Primary School  have been working hard to achieve an Eco schools status. We have already achieved a bronze award and a silver award and are well on our way to achieving green flag status later this year.  A few months ago we entered the school into the Caterpillar Eco Awards competition.  Schools from the whole of Trafford and Salford entered.  We got through the first round then for the second round the Caterpillar Eco team paid a visit to our school, spoke to all the children, the Eco councillors, the staff and the Governors.  They were very impressed and to our surprise we reached the finals.  This is a great achievement for an inner city school like ours and we are very proud to be finalists and would like to spread the word to other inner city schools and to all our community that good things can be achieved and  we can all do our bit to help save our environment.   On 2nd July we were invited to the Caterpillar head offices, we had a fantastic day and met pupils and staff from other Eco schools.  The day finished with the awards ceremony.  We were delighted to find we had won a silver award and a cheque for £350.   This is a great achievement because it was the first time we had entered an Eco competition.  The Eco team and staff at Caterpillar were excellent and made us feel very welcome.  We look forward to entering the competition again next year and hope to encourage other schools to do the same. Well done to all the pupils and staff at Lower Kersal Primary school.
