Community Reporters Course - Starting 17th and 24th Thursday 1pm-3pm

This training programme will teach you numerous skills, including
blogging, film making, audio recording and story-telling. All
participants will complete their training with a visit to the BBC for
two masterclasses.

Internet TV - Starting Monday  14th and 21st September 4pm-6pm
This summer we’ll be teaching people the skills to make Internet TV.
You’ll learn how to use camcorders to make short reports of what’s
happening locally, and how to interview and record people in a studio
set up. We’ll be using low cost equipment to make high quality films.

Open access Computer Drop Ins -  Wednesday 1-4pm and Thursday 1-4pm

You can access the full range of our facilities in this time and take
on Blogging, Radio production, Video making and digital photography.

You Can YouTube Too! Film Making For Beginners

Making
short videos is really good fun, whether you’re recording family memories, a local football match or reporting on an event that’s happening in your area. This course will teach you the absolute basics, from how to turn the camera on to how to frame shots and upload to the computer.

Introduction to Internet Radio

Internet radio is a great way to communicate news and talk about the things that are important, interesting or fun. You can learn how to use Internet radio to do all of these things on this short course. You will learn the skills of using microphones, mixers and computers. You’ll also learn how to upload radio pieces to the Internet and let people know about them so they can tune in.

Trace Your Ancestry

The Internet has opened up all sorts of possibilities for people wishing to explore their family history. This fun one-day course will be a chance for us to look at some of the different sites that are available and get started with sketching out our own family trees.

Creating Video Mash-ups

This one-day course will teach you everything you need to make exciting and visually powerful mash-ups. We’ll show you how to find source material, re-edit it and create a new video.

Let’s hit the air-waves! Roles are available for people interested in presenting, researching and planning as well as for the more technical minded. Our shows will go live by the end of the course.

The project was conceived from a desire to fill the gap between theory and practice in environmental courses at the University of Salford, and to contribute to improving the environment in the city.

Big steps playgroup.

Big Steps Playgroup. The playgroup meets in a large room and offers play activities for your over 2's and under 4's. There is normally two staff on duty with additional parent volunteers. Lots of toys and equipment are always available. Play groups meet at St Sebastians, next to the Energise healthy living centre every afternoon from 1:00pm - 2:50pm. The centre is bus stop adjecant and food is served in the cafe until 1:00pm.
